Demos that are also your tests

Your tests just shipped
a demo.

Specreel turns the Playwright traces your tests already produce into watchable, shareable demos — and regenerates them on every green build. When a demo would go stale, a test fails instead.

Demos rot. Tests don't.

Every sprint the UI moves and your recorded walkthroughs quietly go out of date — you find out when a prospect does. A demo and an end-to-end test are the same artifact: a recorded browser flow. Specreel makes them one thing, so a demo can't drift without something turning red.

How it works

Three steps, no new tooling.

1

Turn tracing on

Your Playwright tests already produce a trace.zip. Flip trace: 'on' and you're done. No tests yet? specreel recommend <url> scaffolds them for you.

2

Specreel renders

Point it at test-results/ and get a watchable gallery — captions auto-derived from the actions and assertions. No AI required.

3

Publish on green build

A GitHub Action republishes the gallery to a stable URL on every passing build — so the demo can never be older than your last green build.

What you get

A demo and a test, from one source.

🔁

Can't go stale

Flows that changed but still pass get flagged “updated.” The demo refreshes itself; nothing pretty-but-wrong slips out.

💬

Optional AI narration

Rewrite captions into friendly, sales-engineer narration. Opt-in, bring-your-own-key, under a cent a flow.

📤

Share anywhere

One self-contained gallery.html to email, or publish to a URL with an <iframe> embed.

Start with zero tests

recommend crawls your running app, ranks the flows worth showing, and scaffolds a runnable Playwright script.

🤖

Drive it from your AI tool

An MCP server and a Claude Code skill let you say “make a demo of my app” — the agent runs the whole loop.

🎬

Watchable, not a test log

Real screenshots, narrated steps, read-aloud, a “play all” tour, light/dark — and an MP4 when you need one.

Built for teams that already test.

If you maintain a Playwright suite, Specreel gives you narrated, shareable demos off the specs you already keep — near-zero added effort. It lives in your codebase and your CI, not a separate marketing tool, so your demos stay as current as your tests.
